Kathryn Madeline Allen writes lively, uplifting children’s books about topics like communication, families, manners, & love.

Her board books & picture books have been reviewed by School Library Journal, Publishers Weekly, & Kirkus Reviews. A Kiss Means I Love You has been on best-books-for-babies lists, won a Moonbeam Children’s Book Award, & was runner-up for a Gradiva Award.

Her poems have been in anthologies by Lee Bennett Hopkins; her short stories have been in JumpStart activity books.

An SCBWI member and an enthusiastic presenter, she is available for author visits and book signings.

Ms. Allen taught children’s literature and writing for over 20 years at Oakland Community College in Michigan, where she lives with her family.
